[Devlog] Choices, choices and The Fallen Queen (0.0.10)

Ben is unavailable for this dev log so you have my rough approximation with an arty centrally aligned one instead...


We have had another busy week tinkering away on Fool King and adding a little more 'lore', progression and shop changes, some tasty new avatar customisation so there is a bit more variety in the opponents you will face while in Everdawn and finally some balancing.

We had to attempt another try at curbing the ranged meta at least a lil bit...

The Fallen Queen

"Once Queen of the realm when the Fool King first arose she was cast aside, her powers dwindling in the roaring flame of the King's ambition and hubris. At first she raged and was far more careless in her attempts to dethrone the pretender but was caught & punished brutally, only escaping with her life thanks to a loyal few.

Her power a shadow of what it was, she now is far more subtle with her machinations..."


We have introduced our first 'story' character!
We felt that the shop was a perfect place for the player to interact with interesting characters from this world and be presented with interesting choices. The Fallen Queen will be the standard dice forge character but watch this space as more may be coming down the line. I for one am super pumped about some of the cool characters and bits of lore coming in the future.

Progression & Shop Changes

Talking about the shop we have now introduced a slightly different flow with it and progression.
You now have the option to visit the shop before the first battle and instead of just one opponent you have the choice of three as well as a little more information about the battlefield they are on and their troop configuration.
But wait that's not all!
You can also then exit and visit the shop again if you think you need a handy catapult to rid yourself of your next enemies archers...


Character customisation options

As the eagle eyed of you may of spotted we also have some new portrait choices to give a greater variety of opponents and to enable you to create that inner blood thirsty & would be King slayer that is within all of us.


Balancing

Last but not least we have balancing... sorry crossbowmen/ archers.

Units

Crossbowmen

  • HP 65 -> 60 -
  • Base Crit 0->10% 
  • Range: 8 -> 10
  • DMG 40 -> 25

Catapult

  • DMG 60->45 
  •  Radius 3 -> 4 

Upgrades

Flexible Wood

  • Range 10 -> 5 

Streamline

  •  Attack speed +50% -> +30%

Slow feet, quick hands

  • Attack speed +50% -> +25%

Keen edge

  • DMG 2x -> 1.5x 
  • Cost 12->14
